MELAKA MSSM Centralised Training 2015, Begins TODAY

Melaka's Centralised Training for its 2015 MSSM Chess Team begins today.

State Players are supposed to Report to the Kolej Vokasional Melaka Tengah located at Bukit Katil starting from 8am for a 4 days 3 nights training session. (Having been to Melaka hundreds if not thousands of time, didn't even know that such a Kolej existed).

We're planning to stay at a nearby Homestay to give moral support to hAnA.

4th SUMMIT Juniors 2015, a 1st and a Very Bad 3rd.

In today's 4th Summit Juniors a 1st occured for CP...NO he did not win the event but for the 1st time ever he was named as a Reserve for the Appeals Committee. It was only after Round 3 or 4 that I read the notice and was rather amused to the point that I almost laughed out loud. I'm not sure of the basis for him being named but I assumed TP wanted to have a representative from all categories.

(TBC)

2015 RSC Juniors, Registered.

This will be CP's 4th participation in the RSC Juniors event after playing in the SC Annex in Bukit Kiara last 2 years (read 17 Aug.2014 BlogPOST & 17 Jan.2013 BlogPOST) and at the SC at Dataran Merdeka (read 17 Nov.2012 BlogPOST) in his first participation. Though the format and prizes classification in JT-organised event had changed slightly, I am sure there will be many participants if not a sold-out event considering the prizes offered and the timing of the event.

A team will be sent by the school to compete in the U12 category.

CP Selected for KL State Team 2015

In the midst of a family medical "situation" when everybody is "down" good news was served before lunch time by KL's P.T.Catur who said that after the recent playoffs and careful consideration by the KL Team - CP had been selected for the U12 Team. Hence, making it the 2nd year that he'll be in the U12 team after his debut in Sarawak last year. However, since elder sister hAnA will be representing Melaka in the same event, am sure there'll be fireworks at home.

Well Done CP.

KL Selection Playoffs for MSSM Pulau Pinang 2015

Taking a dig at friends in Selangor & PP:
" IF rich, well-coached and well-prepared Selangor  and Hosts Pulau Pinang
CANNOT Beat the Mamak Shop Players, I don't know what to say la!
Perhaps, next year KL Should hold its Playoffs by the roadside stalls
IF - PP and Selangor cannot Beat KL "

( As per normal, CP doing lots of things but concentrating on his game.
Maybe next time should take away the Ginseng drink. )

( Finally, focusing on his game after being 3 pawns down. Managed to draw after much thought. )

Credit to CIkgu Azrul and his "CATURAG" Blog

I would like to put on record my appreciation to Cikgu Azrul for starting the chess blog "www.CATURAG.blogspot.com ".

The blog is a source of information for stakeholders in the MSSM Melaka chess competition. More importantly however for hAnA and her KYS collegemates is the fact that if not for the CATURAG blog they would have suffered the same fate as that had befallen the MOZAC team.

KL Selection Playoffs at Melati Curry House tomorrow (Monday, 4th May 2015 @11AM)

There will be a KL MSSM Selection Playoffs tomorrow at the Melati Curry House, Taman Melati, KL at 11am.

I knew today, that there will be a Selection Playoffs tomorrow even though I was informed via W'app group during lunch time yesterday to send Faiz to the venue. It's a good thing that we're in KL despite plans to go outstation and the fact that Faiz had withdrawn from the 42nd Selangor Open. Most probably as per last year CP is in the play-offs as he had competed in the U10 category (probably KL is the only state which have such a category...which should be good for talent development).

I believe players involved have been informed.

Further details on the playoffs, please contact Cikgu Suhairi.
