( OCM Hall, KL )

Finally, after numerous attempts Amir Faiz Amirul managed to qualify for his FIRST National Fencing finals competition organised by the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF) at OCM, KL. Was not expecting much in Faiz's last competition in the U12 category especially since against my advice,  he decided to compete in the Sabre event instead of his 'perceived' stronger foil event where he regularly qualify for the 1/16 or QF stages.

Lo and behold, to everyone's surprise (including Coach Zul & me) he managed to qualify for the finals despite finishing 4th in his pool. Along the way he disposed 3 Sabreurs ranked higher than him(seeded 10th) including the 2nd seed from IFCM (others were the 6th & 7th ranked)
