4th KL SCHOLASTIC Championship

Date: Sunday, 20th May 2012
Venue: Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Jalan Maran - KL.
Tournament: 4th KL SCHOLASTIC CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

We arrived around 8.15-20am at a new chess tournament venue for us in 2012. The previous being OCM Indoor Stadium(National Age Group),Polgar Chess Academy(May Day Challenge), SK.Hartamas(Bangsar Zone Finals), & SK.Desa Tun Hussein Onn-KL(FT State Finals).

" Late KICK-OFF (10am), to an EARLY START (8.30am).

R3: B1, Bk. v. Melanie Koo. 0pt (2/3pts).
R4: B3, Wh. V. Anis Batrisyia Malik. 0pt (2/4pts).
R5: B5, Bk. v. Evelyn Tan Eng Tong. 1pt (3/5pts).
R6: B4, Wh. v. Allaida Siow. 1pt (4/6pts).

A heavy downpour accompanied Rounds 4 and 5 of the afternoon session.


CHESS PIRATE - U 12 Boys

R4: B11, Bk. v. Jonathan Ananda Leong. 0pt.(1/4pts).
Note: Chess PiRATE was upset that he had to play Black for the 2nd time and lost tamely.

R5: B15, Wh. v. Afiq Zaqwan. 0pt (1/5pts).
R6: B15, Wh. v. Mohd. Haqeem Zulkarnain. 1pt (2/6pts).


The 4th KL Scholastic Championship ended with Farhana securing 4points and placed 4th out of 19 girls. Both elder girls that Hana lost to finished 1st and 3rd respectively i.e. Melanie Koo from SJKC Jalan Davidson (Melanie is also the FT-KL&PutraJaya and Bangsar Zone U-12 Runners-Up for 2012) & Anis Batrisyia from SK.Padang Tembak 1.


Obtaining 25th position out of 36 "Bucaneers", CHESS PiRATE ONLY managed to get 2 elder competitors to "Walk the Plank" in securing 2points out of 6. Both elder boys whom the CHESS PiRATE forced to walk the plank also finished lower than him at xx & xx respectively. This Championship is Chess PiRATE's "hardest" pool in terms of age in 3 competitions to-date. Being 5years & 2 1/2months old, CHESS PiRATE previously competed in the U-8 Boys(NAG) & U-9 Mixed(May Day Challenge) categories respectively.
