Kudos to the FT Chess Team Management.
Previously, they got an IM from the Philippines to coach the Team.

NOW and for the MSSM Tournament, they've managed to secure the services of the Indonesian No.2 i.e. IM Irwanto Sadikin (2419). IM Irwanto's profile:- Read FIDE website
IM Irwanto had also coached Indonesia's WGM Irene previously.

Flag Handing Over Ceremony for FT Chess Team to MSSM

Event: FT Flag Handing Over Ceremony to FT Chess Team to MSSM

Today, Farhana attended the FT Flag Handing Over Ceremony to FT Teams participating in the MSSM. Apart from the Chess Team, the Handball and Cricket teams were to be seen as well.

Despite wearing XS size shirt and tracksuits...XS = Extra Small, she still reminded me of the Smurfs. Listening to Speeches, Singing the National Anthem and FT Song and taking the oath of doing one's best were amongst the activities Farhana participated in.

Hopefully, in the future functions like this can start on schedule and provides some refreshments. Ensuring that the WC has running water is also much preferred.

We arrived around 8.15-20am at a new chess tournament venue for us in 2012. The previous being OCM Indoor Stadium(National Age Group),Polgar Chess Academy(May Day Challenge), SK.Hartamas(Bangsar Zone Finals), & SK.Desa Tun Hussein Onn-KL(FT State Finals).

The 4th KL Scholastic Championship ended with Farhana securing 4points and placed 4th out of 19 girls. Both elder girls that Hana lost to finished 1st and 3rd respectively i.e. Melanie Koo from SJKC Jalan Davidson (Melanie is also the FT-KL&PutraJaya and Bangsar Zone U-12 Runners-Up for 2012) & Anis Batrisyia from SK.Padang Tembak 1.


Obtaining 25th position out of 36 "Bucaneers", CHESS PiRATE ONLY managed to get 2 elder competitors to "Walk the Plank" in securing 2points out of 6. Both elder boys whom the CHESS PiRATE forced to walk the plank also finished lower than him at xx & xx respectively. This Championship is Chess PiRATE's "hardest" pool in terms of age in 3 competitions to-date. Being 5years & 2 1/2months old, CHESS PiRATE previously competed in the U-8 Boys(NAG) & U-9 Mixed(May Day Challenge) categories respectively.

IM with 2267 Rating Coaching the FT Chess Team

Farhana informed that a Filipino IM is coaching the FT Chess Team for the MSSM in Kuala Terengganu. The IM is in addition to the local coaches presently handling the team.

1st Day of FT Chess Centralised Training for Farhana

Today, Amira Farhana attended her 1st ever Centralised Training or, "Latihan Pusat" as part of the FT Chess Team for the upcoming MSSM Tournament in Kuala Terengganu.

The training session will be from 10.30am - 3pm daily over a span of 2weeks( till 19 May & 28 May-2 June) at S.K.Desa Tun Hussein Onn,KL. En.Suhairi(S.K.Desa Tun Hussein Onn - P.K.HEM & KL Chess Team Organiser) informed those in the Prep.Room that an IM from the Philippines will be coming tomorrow to help out with the KL Chess team.

Prior, to going to S.K.Desa Tun Hussein Onn for the training session - a meeting was held in S.K.TTDI(1) with the Super Headmistress (aka Guru Besar Cemerlang) Pn.Hajjah Nik Nab with Cikgu Rosdi (Chess Teacher)in attendance to discuss pertinent matters like Logistics, "Academic Recovery" as well as rescheduling some of the exam dates for Farhana as the centralized training clashes with some exam dates. One can sense that Pn.Hajjah Nik Nab was very proud that one of S.K.TTDI(1) student is representing the state and hence she'll do whatever she can to support Farhana's participation. Thank You Very Much PUAN HAJJAH NIK NAB & CIKGU ROSDI for all the assistance given to-date to Amira Farhana.

FT Call-Up for Amira Farhana - MSSM @Kuala Terengganu, June

( The 2012 WP-KL Contingent to MSSM Chess Competition in Kuala Terengganu )

At 1.23pm today, I received a call from Cikgu Rosdi(S.K.TTDI-1 Chess Teacher).

Cikgu Rosdi informed that the school had received news via fax and follow-up phone call that Amira Farhana have been selected to represent the Federal Territory Chess team in the Girls U-12 category for the MSSM Chess Tournament which would be held in Kuala Terengganu during the mid-year school holidays in June. Additionally, Farhana is supposed to report for Centralised Training at S.K.Desa Tun Hussein Onn w.e.f. Tomorrow at 10am.

Alhamdullilah & Well Done Farhana for your selection to be a FT player whilst in Standard Four. Hana - Always be Humble & Appreciate ALL those that had helped you on your journey.

Today, whilst visiting his eldest sister in Seremban, N9 - Amir Faiz put on a Paper Hat made from his Chess puzzle and shaped like a Pirate's headgear and declared himself as a "CHESS PiRATE".

Chess Prep at S.K.Bukit Damansara

Venue: Standard 3 Classroom, Bukit Damansara Primary School(SKBD) - KL
Time : 1430hours(2.30pm).

Amira Farhana received a call on Friday, 11th May to attend a Chess Prep session at the SKBD. So eager was Hana to attend the session that we arrived at SKBD around 2pm. As per normal in chess matters, Faiz refused to let her sister go alone and tagged along as well.

Session ended around 4.45pm and the parents(or, rather FATHERS) were briefed by En.Shuhairi as to what is happening namely, Preparation for the MSSM Chess Competition which will be held in Kuala Terengganu this year. The event will be held during the Mid-Year school holidays I.e. June 2012.
