The KLCA Selection Committee met on Friday 27th February at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, KL to select and endorse players for the National Closed 2015.

Finally, after over 2 months of being out of competition CP will be taking part in his first 2 competitions in 2015. I expect him to be a little rusty but hopefully the competitions held in his birthday week will end with a smile on his cheeky face and rekindle his interest in chess especially after his introduction to fencing.

WANTED - Junior Chess Coach in FIJI.

My Fijian friend send me a few emails requesting that I advertise and if possible recommend a few suitable Junior Coaches for their federation's consideration. Interested applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record of training top junior players.

" The Fiji Chess Federation (FCF) invites applications from Chess Trainers for the position of Junior Coach.  FCF’s aim​ is to enable selection of four juniors in the Fiji National Squad to the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Azerbaijan."

COMMENTS: Just wondering how a country like FIJI which is less wealthier than Malaysia and ranked 154th in the chess world could have a National Chess Federation with a vision and resources to have a coach albeit temporarily compared to wealthier and higher-ranked Malaysia whose last Full-Time Coach was many years ago!!!???

2nd Fencing Session.

As the Intermediate team will be competing in the U12 Grand Prix 1 competition organised by the MFF i.e. Malaysian Fencing Federation, the coach announced that there won't be any class for the Beginners Group on Saturday, 7 February.


As a result, a replacement session was held today at 9AM @Dewan Bakti-TTDI.

For the 3rd Year Running, FISSAD (M) Sdn. Bhd. a boutique Advertising company in Malaysia (refer FISSAD's website at:- http://www.fissad.com/ ) extends some sponsorship for CM Amir Faiz Amirul who is the Youngest CM in Malaysia's history. The sponsorship was extended by FISSAD's Managing Director Faroq Iskandar in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail-KL.

The sponsorship which is in the form of entrance fees payment for local competitions should be sufficient for the cHEss pIRATE to participate in 4 or 5 local competitions. In view of the upcoming MSSM-KL Zonal competitons in February and the National Age Group(NAG) in March, the sponsorship came at just the right time for the CP to warm-up prior to the events.

FISSAD first came into the picture when the company started the ball rolling in 2013 by donating the seed funds for Amir Faiz to participate in the World Youth Chess Championship (WYCC 2013) at Al Ain, United Arab Emirates...at 6 years and 9 months - the Youngest Malaysian Qualifier to the World Youth event.

TQVM to both the Managing Director-Faroq Iskandar and Managing Partner-Sharman Johan of FISSAD (M) Sdn. Bhd. for the recurring sponsorship since 2013.

1st SKBJ Junior Chess Championship 2015@Bkt.Jelutong-Shah Alam, 7th & 8th March 2015

S.K. Bukit Jelutong, a SBT school located in Shah Alam will be orgnising its first Junior Chess Competition on the 7th & 8th of March 2015 (Saturday & Sunday).

There will be 2 categories on offer i.e. U-12 & U-9. Entrance Fee is RM50.

Places are limited to 200 players. (Only 199 places left since CP had taken up 1slot).
