C: 1st Catur Terbuka Sri Damansara & Cempaka Inter-School, Registered

After more than 4 months of NOT touching the chess set since mid-June's ASEAN+ in Singapore let alone taking part in any chess competition, CP is registered for an event within a short distance of the neighbourhood.

Concurrently, registered him for his first inter-school team fencing event.

F: 42nd in Ordered Ranking - MFF GP3 2015, U12 Foil @Gymnasium 3, MSN

( GP3 Venue - Gymnasium 3 MSN )

( GA Fencers & Coaches. As per normal CP  focusing on something else )

( Starting Players' List for FOIL - KL, PP and at least 3 to 5 other clubs )

( CP in Pool 8 which began around 10.30AM)

( Ordered Ranking after Round Robin Pools. CP ranked 42nd )

 ( Last 64/32 Elimination Rounds )

At 8, CP and his GA team mate are the Youngest foilers in the competition. CP's accumulated 8points out of a possible 20 over 5 rounds of 2 minutes each is not too shabby, only 1 trouncing losing 0-4. Despite the opposition's strength and experience, lo and behold both managed to avoid finishing last mainly due to 'flashes off techniques used'. There were a few 9-year olds, many in standard 4 while most of the competitors are either 12 or 11-year olds. CP needs to improve especially on his strength and stamina. As expected, he'd lost out during physical contacts.

Hope the experience gained can be put to good use for future national events. Comparing this and CP's debut in his first national event in chess (apart from NAG) i.e. during the NJCC in 2012 or 2013 at Wilayah Complex-KL, ranking wise he did relatively better...his name was even on the first ordered ranking sheet rather than the next!

MFF GP3 U12 @MSN, 2nd Competition.

CP's Second Fencing competition BUT it will be the FIRST TIME he'll be pitted against much older boys compared to the first event in August where he'd faced opponents older than him by only a year. Since this is a national-level competition, it is expected KL and PP will be represented along with representatives from many of the fencing clubs (compared to just 3-4 clubs in August's event at PJ).

Due to his age and size, NOT MUCH is expected of CP though it should be good experience for him to benchmark where he stands in the country's U12 pecking order.

MCF AGM 2015 - "VERY Tough Fight" or, "Birds of a Feather Flock Together" ???

BREAKING, 5th October 2015;
" MCF AGM Postponed till Next Year 2016 "

As I'd speculated earlier - The KING SACRIFICE is IN PLAY !

Time to Squeeze, whoever can be "squeezed"???!!!
>>>>>>>

Earlier post HERE

The long-delayed 2015 MCF AGM is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 11th October 2015 at the Hotel Olimpik, Kuala Lumpur. (Refer Notice on KLCA site HERE).

Will it be "advantage to the incumbents" or, opposing forces carrying the day or, "birds of a feather, flocking together" or, something unexpected happening at the last minute or, even after the last votes have been tallied?

Many fronts are either opening or closing and with past campaigns under their belt, I am sure the competing elements knows what need to be done.
Whether its The Good, The Bad or The Ugly - The future for Malaysian chess will partially reveal itself on 11 October.

.......but with the just concluded Hari Raya Qurban(Sacrifice) and the Pawn Sacrifice being screened, I do not discount Sacrifice(s) being made, even the unheard of KING Sacrifice in chess!

(UPDATES to FOLLOW)
Initially, when it all started evrybody sort of figured out that the incumbents will try to hold on to power. The question is whether any credible challenge can be mounted.

A Time to LEARN Civilisations!

( Prof. Thuy Chanthourn from Cambodia )

Many been asking as to CP's well-being and whereabouts due to his absence from local chess competitions. Well he's fine and apart from trying to learn a new game and making up for lost time in another sport, he's being exposed to history and civilisations.

( Visit 1st, Theory later )

( Youngest Ever Participant in a Wacana programme at ATMA, UKM )

Today CP attended a Wacana or Discourse/Talk on " Early Iron Production in SEA" by Professor Thuy from Cambodia.  Surprisingly, he listened to most of the presentation. Credit should be given to Prof. Thuy for presenting in an appealing way via data tables, colourful maps, pictures and videos.

After attending his first programme titled " Jejak Batu Bersurat Beruas " rganised by HIKMAH in August, this time round he's  more well-behaved. Most probably because he had visited some of the places shown in the Prof's presentation.

( ATMA-UKM, CP attending his 2nd History Programme after HIKMAH Beruas, Perak )

Thank you very much to hosts ATMA-UKM and Prof. Thuy for being so accommodating to CP today. Hope to be back again.

2015 KL International Open, DONE! TQ to All Who Made it Possible.

( 2015 KL Open Backdrop )

( KLCA Logo )

Am Done organising the 2015 KL International Open, just some loose ends to tie-up.
The second FIDE-rated event I am involved in as part of the Organsing Committee, this time as its Organising Secretary after being involved as a Tournament Director previously. Thus far, have been involved in organising 1 classical and 1 rapid event.

I would say, there's more stories to tell this time round compared to my last involvement in the 2014 classical event. Many ideas obtained, perhaps as a 2nd or 3rd book in the 3S book series I am presently working on.

Thank You to All who had helped to make the event a success despite the prevailing scenario in Malaysia and certain circumstances surrounding it.
