Planned Visit to IKN, with a Pitstop at Putrajaya's Precint 16(2) School 1st Chess Competition.

( Putrajaya Precint 16-2 School Chess Competition )

( U8 Final Results )

According to the Terms of Understanding (ToU) agreed upon between CP and I before this year's AAG Singapore he's supposed to be 'on leave' from chess till 31st December 2015.

However, a situation arose which enabled him to be persuaded to come out of 'retirement' i.e. a good Pak Sheikh who had been instrumental in CP going to WYCC 2013 being hospitalised in IKN Putrajaya. A planned visit to IKN this week was made to coincide with the 1st SK Putrajaya Presint 16(2) Chess Competition. It was hoped that CP would be able to present a medal of sorts when visiting the good samaritan.

In a combination of factors, CP was able to do so. Faiz won the 'lightweight' U8 event.

Special Award for Chess, fm KYS

( Posted on KYS Notice Board )

Finally, hAnA receives some recognition from the College, a Special Award for Chess to be given out during KYS' Speech Day on Saturday, 14th November.

Both recipients for the Special Award in chess represented Melaka in the U15 event in June's MSSM in SJKC Shang Wu, Pulau Pinang. Coincidentally, both finished 10th during the NAG competition in their respective group and used to be former KL teammates in the MSSM held in Kuala Terengganu.

Hopefully, the KYS Special Award will spur Amira Farhana to better and greater things and not just in chess

C: 8th-U12@1st SRI DAMANSARA Open after 4 months of NOT Touching the Chess Set!

 (8th Place, U12 - RM40+Medal+Achievement Certificte)

(Prize Given by Sri Damansara 3 School HM)

U12 Open, 1st Sri Damansara 2015 Results HERE

After 4 months of not touching the chess set since Singapore, CP finally played in a competition.
A bit rusty but managed to win his first 5 rounds before losing to regulars Ilhan and Esther(MSSM 2015 U12G Best Board player) in the final 2 rounds. 8th place and RM40 should be enough to make him 'hungry & tremble' a bit!

8th place finish for me is not bad considering the long lay-off. Back to the fencing season then as there's a few events to prepare for. Singapore and Jakarta will have to depend on both the Coach and school's go ahead.
Probably, restart competing in January 2016 unless there's training gaps in between.

F: 42nd in Ordered Ranking - MFF GP3 2015, U12 Foil @Gymnasium 3, MSN

( GP3 Venue - Gymnasium 3 MSN )

( GA Fencers & Coaches. As per normal CP  focusing on something else )

( Starting Players' List for FOIL - KL, PP and at least 3 to 5 other clubs )

( CP in Pool 8 which began around 10.30AM)

( Ordered Ranking after Round Robin Pools. CP ranked 42nd )

 ( Last 64/32 Elimination Rounds )

At 8, CP and his GA team mate are the Youngest foilers in the competition. CP's accumulated 8points out of a possible 20 over 5 rounds of 2 minutes each is not too shabby, only 1 trouncing losing 0-4. Despite the opposition's strength and experience, lo and behold both managed to avoid finishing last mainly due to 'flashes off techniques used'. There were a few 9-year olds, many in standard 4 while most of the competitors are either 12 or 11-year olds. CP needs to improve especially on his strength and stamina. As expected, he'd lost out during physical contacts.

Hope the experience gained can be put to good use for future national events. Comparing this and CP's debut in his first national event in chess (apart from NAG) i.e. during the NJCC in 2012 or 2013 at Wilayah Complex-KL, ranking wise he did relatively better...his name was even on the first ordered ranking sheet rather than the next!

MFF GP3 U12 @MSN, 2nd Competition.

CP's Second Fencing competition BUT it will be the FIRST TIME he'll be pitted against much older boys compared to the first event in August where he'd faced opponents older than him by only a year. Since this is a national-level competition, it is expected KL and PP will be represented along with representatives from many of the fencing clubs (compared to just 3-4 clubs in August's event at PJ).

Due to his age and size, NOT MUCH is expected of CP though it should be good experience for him to benchmark where he stands in the country's U12 pecking order.
