C: 2016 MSSKL Bangsar Zone (Primary) Begins Today at SK HANG TUAH
After an initial postponement, the MSSKL Bangsar Zone for primary schools begins today at SK Hang Tuah, KL. It was postponed from its earlier planned date most probably due to budget limitations affecting many sports.
Team competition is from today till tomorrow whilst the individual event begins on Wednesday till Friday. As compared to last year where there is both the U10 & U12 team event for boys, there is only one category i.e. U12 forr the team event,
SKTTDI 1 team is represented by Waqeef, Hadif, Kushaal & Amir Faiz.
3 rounds were played today, SKTTDI 1 Won 2 rounds and drew in 1 round.

R1: WON, 3 1/2 - 1/2 v. ???

C: 6th PJ Open 2016 - Best Primary School Player
( 4pts and Best Primary School Player )
( RM70 cash prize)
Took part in the Open event as preparation for tomorrow's MSSKL Bangsar Zone.
4 points(4W & 3L) from 7 rounds is nothing to shout about but considering that even an Olympiad got 4 points....its not too shabby. Still, 4 points is enough to earn him RM70 for the Best Primary School player category.
( Last Round. Won on Time )
(R3, Board 11. Lost)
His best game is in the 3rd round when despite losing, he held an experienced player(who won a category prize) to 20 seconds against his 1 second.

NAG 2016 Begins - Still in Pursuit of a "Jaguh Kampung" !!!
NAG2016 began today at UTP Tronoh, around 10minutes late (35minutes, if the technical briefing which was advertised to start at 9.30AM but instead begun around 10.05AM is taken into account). Though late, it is still much better than the shambles last year in KL and I'm glad MCF did not continue with the same Chief Arbiter for this edition.
Considering the suitability of the venue and the fact that 8rounds is played over 3 days, it is such a shame that the event is not a FIDE-rated event even though RM50 is collected per player and taking cognisance of the fact that FIDE does not charge any fees for Rapid events. Perhaps the Pursuit of National Ratings (issued quarterly as compare to FIDE's monthly release or the "lumping" of all categories into 1 ratings list compared to FIDE's 3 separate categories of classical, rapid and blitz) by certain quarters which holds no value whatsoever out of Malaysia is part of the reason(s) for the "Jaguh Kampung" mentality in some chess players or even its officials???
Am hoping that in the near future the NAG and MSSM competitions are FIDE-rated rather than NR. After all, we would like to see our kids have an International Ratings in chess rather than a NR considering the amount each player spends when participating in NAG.
